Scripture
But the Lord said to Gideon, “There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will thin them out for you there. If I say, ‘This one shall go with you,’ he shall go; but if I say, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.”
5 So Gideon took the men down to the water. There the Lord told him, “Separate those who lap the water with their tongues as a dog laps from those who kneel down to drink.” 6 Three hundred of them drank from cupped hands, lapping like dogs. All the rest got down on their knees to drink.
7 The Lord said to Gideon, “With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.” 8 So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites home but kept the three hundred, who took over the provisions and trumpets of the others. [1]
Intro:
In war, it is essential to gain the high ground over your enemy; many straight agree the higher you are over your enemy, the more you enemy, the better you can control the battle. Which that beginning told the more soldiers you have, the better you can adjust and manurer the enemy attempts to adjust to your army. I most significant battles, the more man you have over your enemy the more advantage and options you have. The more, the better. This manpower advantage can ensure Victory. Right or may seem.
However, God (Jesus) never sends his children into battle alone, but we sometimes think those very people there to help us overcome that enemy in our way to our purpose can be seen here with Gideon.
Three types of spiritual warriors will go with us into battle.
1. The fearful they want you to win but don't want to risk all for your Victory.
2. The curious and cautiousness these are the jokes that believe in you but not enough to stay focus with you; they don't have much to lose in the fight.
3. The warriors who will fight for your understanding when you when they win the ride or die, the ones that understand God will bless those who bless you and curse those cursed.
Trans: let's look at these warriors whom Gideon would be given to Gideon to defeat the enemies.
Text:
The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, this shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever, I say unto thee, this shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.
• Have you ever wondered if: I just could get a little more money, or if I could get a bit more education, God if you give me the next promotion? Then I would be free.
This is what perhaps Gideon thought when he recruited his army to come against such an overwhelming enemy, the Maidens. He did not care how strong God was going to show up, but he relays on what made common sense to his mind, "The More the Better but the Lord is saying Less is Better,"
• How many times in our lives has God done the impossible with little or nothing? When you look around the very people or things you thought God was going to use to get you the Victory was not it.
Text:
5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the Lord said unto Gideon, everyone that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise, everyone that boweth down upon his knees to drink.
• The Lord will help to decree the people that: The fearful, from the cruise about you and those who will go with you. The ones that will fight alongside you, the spiritual warriors that will pray with you and for you just because you are a child of the most high.
Text:
5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the Lord said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.
How many of know that God does look at the enemy's numbers how many are against (For if God is with you who can be against you) when he is moving you in to Victory. God is so sovereignty that the laws of very nature of battle do not apply when God's considers his plans for you. (The to not Harm you but bring you into an expected end.")
Closing
Gideon was not given the Victory by the number of people with him. We will not be blessed by what More of thing that God uses to bless us but the less of things. God will and can take the little things in your life to strengthen your faith to show you, his glory. Show you in your own spirit that you know that you know that it was the "Lord was on my side"
